Yoga Source

April 25, 2007

In the late summer of 2005 a gathering of family and friends began the task of transforming a large basement space in Newmarket, into the regions most welcoming yoga studio. All their hard paid off quickly, and since its opening in September of 2005, Yoga Source and Therapy Studio has welcomed a multitude of students and clients into this gorgeous space.

Founded by Theresa Gagnon, the studio was developed to offer people a place for meaningful excercise. Having landed in the area after working as a teacher and personal trainer in Miami and Los Angeles, Theresa noted that the region had limited places for students to practice. Coming from city centres where there is a yoga studio on virtually every block, Theresa took on the task to offer the community a devoted space for yoga, and adjoining rooms of complimentary and alternative therapies. Having gained popularity as an instructor in local establishments, Theresa looked forward to moving into her serene and dedicated studio, and has not looked back since.

A year-and-a-half after their first guests, the studio is thriving with the great energy and enthusiastic students. The instructors offer a variety of styles and as Theresa continues her studies in Anusara yoga, she looks forward to introducing alignment and healthy attitudes to newcomers and advanced students alike. Particularly welcome are beginners, who, more often than, come out of their first class glowing with excitement .

Yoga Source and Therapy Studio also houses a variety of therapists. They include 3 registered massage therapists, an Osteopathy student, an Acupuncturist, a Reiki Practitioner, a Shiatsu Therapist, and a Spiritual Counsellor. Theresa herself continues to teach yoga classes six days a week and is herself a masseuse.

Yoga Source offers a variety of yoga classes seven days a week. They attract many clients from throughout the area as well as a host of colourful travelers passing though. For more information call the studio or go on the website.
